OVERALL REFLECTION

Just like most, when I signed up for this course it was simply for a requirement. I thought it would blend in with all the others. However, it easily became one of the most memorable classes I have ever taken, and I often compared it to AP lang from high school -- notably one of my favorite classes from high school.

With this class being structured to be very self exploratory, I learned quite a bit about myself while completing the three projects. I also reflected a lot on my past experiences in English/journalism classes and applied many techniques into this class. I really enjoyed how this class was so "free" and with the less demand, I feel as though it made me a better writer.

This class being small made it easy to get it to know everyone, which I've always thought was essential for improving your writing. As we learned in this class, revising and remixing plays a key role in how your paper can turn out after the "shitty first draft". Having the small group of students that we did, it made for an effective peer review session. The difference with it in this class in comparison to others was that it wasn't them reading and editing on our paper; it was verbal listening and suggestions were made.

On that note, the "conference week" was so helpful. I wish all English classes in the past did that. It was such a good way of discussing how to go about your paper helped me immensely for both project 1 and 2. Additionally, since we were able to write about what we were passionate about, it allowed to me set time for things that mattered to me. Due to the time sensitivity between world politics and my personal tie to it, I enjoyed the challenge this course put on me to get involved in the community.

Overall, this class may seem like a simple graduation requirement, but I am so glad that I took it, despite the fact it was an 8am.
